Monica Alfonso received her MFA in painting in 2006 from Syracuse University and BFA in studio art from The University of Texas at Austin in 2000. She has exhibited her work nationally in juried exhibitions, including last year’s Biennial Exhibition at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY. Most recently she received the 2nd place Chapman prize at the 2007 Live Oak Art Center Juried Exhibition in Columbus, TX.

A native of Houston, she relocated to Austin after completing her graduate studies. She will be teaching drawing courses and art history at Texas State University and Austin Community College this fall.
